About Mouse

All the idea came from the fact that I was looking to do something different from the usual Inukshuk that we use to see normally.

Usual Inukshuk

These two were made for a lucky Quebec’s athlete (Hi Carole!) who ran on December 7th, 2009, with the 2010 Vancouver Olympic’s torch !

Here’s historical and emotional souvenirs!

After some sketches, appeared this little mouse (centered into Search and trials #2).

And, since for the peoples of the Arctic region, Inukshuk means: “something which acts for or performs the function of a person”. I’ve decided to call my creations: Animoshuk, evidently in reference to animals made with stones.

I finally went on the beach to select some of those stones and rocks who may match the forms of my drawings…

Curiously I found the characteristical triangle shaped head almost immediately. And soon, I collected all the pieces required to do my first experimentation (five sculptures in total):

Since then, I “built” several of them, always under this same imposed & specific pattern containing: 11 rocks (10 for the mouse + one for the basis) without forgetting the little mustache and accessories (seashells most of the time or others, as per my imagination and requests I receive).

After a couple of years or so, Lina once visited a nice boutique gift-shop downtown Baie-Comeau (Trés’Arts d’Ici) who accepted to have them in their showroom (Thanks Maude!).

So, I’ve created a personalized visual for the occasion. Here’s my Logo:

Last January, the local newspaper even published an article on the boutique TrèsArts d’Ici with a mention about my work:

A place where I’m buying my visual arts stuff since more than 25 years now is DeSerres. They have an Artist Gallery (Open Gallery) on their Website and they accepted to post a picture of a group of my sculptures in the Amateur section! The varnish, the brushes and the glue that I’m using are coming from this pretty nice source.

With the time… some orders and… special requests, I did different sizes (usually I make them to fit into a 4 inches box).

"Fleurette" weigh approx. 40 lbs & "Défie" is only 1.5 inch tall

See!... "Défie" and a quarter!

But, I did try with different animals too. Here’s some examples:

Just for the fun of it, I’ve done a Mouse Video created on Animoto! No relation with Animoshuk!!! Another time, I’m not an affiliate, but you definitively need to give a try – really easy to realize your own video!

Finally, here’s various versions of my mouse!

"Florian" weigh about 120 lbs!
